The Grey Marble (2018)
From my kitchen window in Berlin I could see every morning a hot-air balloon, advertising the conservative newspaper „Die Welt“ („The World“). The balloon was round and had a dark blue primer. On the ocean-colored ground, one could see gently green surfaces, as well as half-dissolved white formations above it. It was obvious that the picture printed on the three-dimensional surface was a picture of the earth from far away. In addition to the information conveyed by the image, the lettering "The World" was written on the balloon. If you forgot for a moment that the word combination was the name of the conservative print medium, it could have been read as a description of the airborne object itself - an assurance that any viewer understands what the round, floating model is about...
